Group classes are included for any student who is taking two or more private lessons a month. There are two classes that are offered. One is a vocal workout class where the class performs
all the focus, breathing, and laryngeal exercises needed to grow the voice. this class meets
every other week and can be thought of as a group practice session. The other group class
is a performance class. Here, students perform a song with either piano accompaniment or karaoke track and are given instruction on how to improve their performance. Space is limited in this class to 10 attendees so that everyone gets equal time of coaching. If not taking 2 classes a month, these classes are available for an additional fee.
The Ratatouilles, are those who love singing and want to sing,
but don't believe they have the "talent" to do so, or worse,
they were told by a teacher long ago, "you should just mouth the words,
you justcan't sing". These teachers who tell students not to sing need to
be seen as what they are, uninformed hacks who should never have
presented themselves as a teacher. They are the cause countless childhood
traumas that never heal unless the singer meets a teacher who knows
how to teach them. Like the famous quote from Pixar's movie Ratatoullie
"Anyone can cook!" So it it the same with singing, ANYONE can sing. It is up to the
teacher to show the student how. I think this quote from the movie sums it up best...
"Inmany ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet
enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to
our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and
to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand
scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful
than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly
risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world
is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends. Last night,
I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected
source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions
about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core.
In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto:
Anyone can cook. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant.
Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.
It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking
at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef
in France.I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more."
Robert Hunt Robinson has been helping people find their voice for well over a decade. After a career of performing on the world's finest stages, Robert felt that the ground-breaking Garcia-Marchessi technique he utilized for singing could be expanded to not only train the best singers in the world, but could be modified to help non-singers to utilize their voice as an instrument the way singers d o. through Syllabic Contradictory Articulation and balancing the individual's harmonic and resonant vocal structure, Robert has created a technique that unlocks the potential hidden within every individual's voice. Robert has worked with every major music director on Broadway as well as lead coaches from the New York Metropolitan Opera. He began his own vocal studies under Dr. Lorraine Buffington, the critically acclaimed soprano at the New York Met, and finalized his training the with internationally renowned Garcia-Marchesi master Edward Sayegh.
After students have been in the studio for a year or more (some have been in for 10 years) the option
to put together a full length solo show becomes available. The student puts together a 45-90 minute performance and learns not only how to put on a full show of their creation, but also how to market the show. RHRVoice is proud to have helped produce dozens of shows for students wanting to take their singing all the way to a fully produced show, music video, or full album. The possibilities are endless.
Two lessons a month combined with group classes is the best vocal regiment for steady vocal progress. In private lessons we focus on specific vocal pedigogy tailer fit to the student as well as building the student's song repertoire. All private lessons are one hour long and the ratio of exercise to to song work is about 1 to 3. Group lessons are also an option if you want to learn with a friend! In that case an extra half hour per head is added to the lesson. Four person max on group lessons.
The Garcia-Marchesi method was made famous by great singers at La Scala Opera House in Milan in the 19th century and still to this day. This time-tested technique combines breath strengthening exercises developed by Mathilde Marchesi (1821-1913) with Manuel Garcia's (1805-1906) pioneering laryngeal exercises. The Garcia-Marchesi approach produces a free voice that embodies an enormous range both dynamic and tonal, the essential key to singing any style without damaging the voice.

Martunis Piano Bar in SF has been host to RHR Voice singers for 7 years and is the venue RHRVoice
calls home for most it's performances. Once a month students are invited to perform 2 songs in front
of an audience and show off what they've learned from their time in the studio. So what's the difference between a karaoke and a piano bar performance? No lyric screens, live accompaniment, and arrangements tailor made for the student. As our beloved student Tony Brown says, "It's like playing rugby, except without the injuries!"
Fusing his SCA (Sylabic Contradictory Articulation) technique with elements of*Garcia-Marchesi , Robert
creates high energy, yet understandable classes and lessons where students master low larynx vocal techniques
and learn to use the voice as an instrument. In addition to vocal technique, Robert also teaches singers how to access emotion through lyrical interpretation and how to build a subtext from that interpretation. This gives the singer that indullable quality that every great singer has. Whether the student is already a professional vocalist or an enthusiastic newcomer, Robert tailors his instruction to the individual so anyone can learn to sing or take their voice to the next level!
